ResilientKids

I continuously talk about how learning at a younger age is always more beneficial, whether it's learning a second language, or learning calming rituals that relieve you from stress. As an individual that is currently learning how to deal with stress for a healthier, better life, I watch this video provided above, and wonder why I was not taught this at a younger age. ResilientKids gives children the opportunity to grow socially, emotionally, and academically all at once. The main office is located in Providence, RI and I think it is a great organization that focuses on the entirety of the student, and not just their learning through the academic curriculum, but learning about themselves and how to take care of their well-being as well.

  1. Melissa,

I completely agree, this is something I wish could've been done in my classroom as a kid. Sometimes I forget how important it is for youth to be calm in order to be a better learner. By doing these calming rituals they are helping students well being at an early age which is great.

  2. I love how you design your blogs. When I was in elementary school, all the teachers did was yell for attention. I can not remember a time when the teachers would talk to us in a tone that was calm or pleasant. Instead of planning activities that would help us socially, they would just throw us into groups and expect us to work together.

  3. Hi Melissa,

The first thing you stated, about "learning at a younger age is always more beneficial" is so true. Youth become adults, and if not taught how to deal with the environment around them and themselves, they may struggle. I know that for me personally I do not know how to act or react in certain situations and this program would have definitely benefited me.
